About
I create art to understand the relationships between others and the conflicting understandings of the world within myself. The engaging process of ‘making’ reconciles my emotional understanding with the physicality of the world. A stroke of the paintbrush, the choice of materials are powerful gestures. I work with deep colors, line and mass in a variety of paints, mark-making tools and collage materials. Layers and transparencies suggest the paradoxes created in life. Combining an intuitive painting process with a careful investigation, my art explores my inner world of vulnerabilities and blessings.
To rephrase a quote from writer Siri Hustvedt, “I am painting not only to tell. I am painting to discover.”
